Individualized Error

In my writing I often tend to state the points of my paper without giving my opinion and personalizing my projects. In my significant writing project, I worked to add my opinions into my paper and rephrase my writing to show how I incorporate my thoughts and opinions. In my first paragraph I state, “In his article “The Case for Reparations” Coates discusses the effect that systematic racism has had on America throughout the generations and challenges the leaders of America to question our roots.” I introduce the works that I use and that is mostly all that I add in terms of my personal opinion. When I revised the statement, I ended up with, “Two works that help to draw attention to these issues come from Carol Dweck’s TED talk “The Power of Believing You can Improve,” and Lukianoff and Haidt’s “The Coddling of the American Mind.” I believe that having a growth mindset is a necessity when it comes to dealing with racial issues, which means that it should be required and expected in members of congress and the United States government.” I add my thesis statement into the mix and support my claims with what I personally believe.
